Advent Adult Faith Formation 2016:
Why This Jubilee?christmas-background-17318914

Music is such an important part of Advent and Christmas. Can you imagine Advent without “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”? How about Christmas without carols like “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” “Silent Night,” and “Joy to the World”? It must please Jesus when we sing of his coming with carols we know by heart. It must please him even more when we think about the words we are singing! The four weeks of Adult Faith Formation gatherings will be arranged by topic: The Place, The Men (Joseph, shepherds, magi), The Mother, and the Child. We meet on Wednesday evenings at 7pm in the church hall (11/30, 12/7, 12/14, 12/21). Please join us!

Worship at Second Congregational Church:

We’re trying an experiment this year. On the first three weekends of the month, we will gather for worship at 10 a.m. on Sunday. But on the fourth weekend, we will gather for Dinner Church on Saturday evening at 6pm. There will not be a Sunday worship service at the church on the fourth Sunday; rather, we are encouraging one another to observe Sabbath in the ways we find most meaningful. We hope you’ll try this experiment with us!

Church School for Children:

Another experiment for us is to have Church School for Children during the 10 a.m. worship hour. They will begin in the sanctuary, and then go to their class following the Children’s Message (at about 10:15 a.m.). We have an exciting new curriculum and we’re thrilled to give it a whirl!
